Handicapping American Idol

The Greek breaks down the contestants on the new season of American Idol

The Show Overall:

My Take: I am embarrassed to admit I watch it

The Good: Simon Cowell

The Bad: It is so cheesy and they milk every minute of airtime to push more advertisers products

The skinny: I tuned in to watch the judges make fun of the ones who sucked in the early auditions and now I am hooked

The Favorites in this season of american idol:

1. Fat Guy (Ruben Studdard)-

My take:He looks to be in the Driver's seat

The Good:By far the best singer on the show

The Bad: The "205" shirt theory is getting tired. Big guys are loveable but it wouldn't hurt him to drop a few pounds

The skinny: Looks to be the favorite but are the audiences of teens and early 20s girls that surely make up the voting pool going to pick him over a "cutie" like Clay or Josh?

 

 

2. Dork Boy (Clay Aiken)

My Take: His nerdy "Sad Songs say so much"act is wearing thin

The Good: Probably has the second best male singing voice on the show. Chicks dig him.  Could be the next American Idol?

The Bad: one dimensional and always looks like he is about to cry. His annoying habit of whispering "thank you"

The skinny: Chicks think Clay Aiken is cute and my theory is they drive the voting. However, you can't deny Simon Cowell's influence on the voters.  Guys think he's gay.

 

3.Weak Armed Marine(Josh Gracin)

My take: Decent performer and its hard not to back a Marine as the Marines are closing on Baghdad

The Good: The extra PR of being a Marine during wartime is helping

The Bad: Getting showed up by Simon Cowell in a push up contest

The Skinny: Look for him to make the top 3 yet go no further

 

4. Trencye

My take: Great Singer but low on sex appeal and style

The Good: Best female voice in field, sounds a little like Whitney Houston

The Bad: Felony Arrest (see: thesmokinggun.com), lack of personality and attractiveness

The Skinny: The fact she hasn't showed up in the bottom 3 means she has some backers

 

The field:

They all have been in the bottom 3 at least once and probably don't have much of a shot:

 

Kimberly Caldwell

My take: Cute and bubbly

The Good: Good performer and pretty. The guys love her

The Bad: Little too cute, bubbly, and blonde. the chicks hate her

The skinny: Her fake personality and desire to be on top has failed to win over the female voters

 

Kimberly Clarke:

My Take: Ho-hum

The Good: good voice

The Bad: not a real good performer

the skinny: decent enough to stick around a while but not a real contender

 

Ricky:

My Take: The worst one left on show

The Good: good personality

The Bad: not the best singer

the skinny: he seems to be winning some female support but I agree with Simon Cowell's take on him

 

Carmen:

My Take: too young and unpolished

The Good: Simon Cowell backs her hard

The Bad: Just not much there

the skinny: She has been on the ledge for a few weeks now. Expect her to drop off in next couple shows
