It
is time that all the Star Wars Apologists face up to the
fact that the newest edition of the series sucks as bad
as the Phantom Menace.
It’s not that the movie is horrible its just
that it is built up to be a blockbuster when in reality
it is nothing more than a poor man’s Mummy
Returns or Scorpion
King with worse acting.
The rave reviews you hear from the Star
Wars fans tend to be defensive and are seemingly to
justify waiting in line for 9 hours and wearing those
silly costumes.
Don’t
get me wrong, as a kid I really enjoyed the first three
movies and there are some really good special effects,
but I think the critics are dead on with this movie.
The acting and dialogue are almost laughable. In
particular the romance scenes between Anakin Skywalker
and Princess Padme are the
worst with lines such as, "I don't like the sand.
It's coarse and rough and irritating--not like you.
You're soft and smooth."
These stupid lines seem to come out of nowhere
with all the romance of a conversation between Dools
and Mudbowl.
Overall
the movie is average at best.
The last 45 minutes get exciting, but don’t go
to a late movie like I did.
You will be asleep when the action starts.
For all of you Star Wars geeks, bring it on.
You know it sucks!
