MI JAN 7, 2002
After
a long season, Kelley Kuehne (team name: Ben's Tightees) outlasted 3 Aficionados
and one all-around good fella to take this years' Yahoo Sports Tick
title. He was tailed close by Greg Dooley (Uncle Geegs' Ma
Deeters) throughout the season,
and survived a late push by 2000-01 champ Jeff Jackson (Dutch's Locks), and by Ron
Dooley (Racks, Cash & Booze).
The
difference maker? Late in the game on Sunday, Kansas City Chiefs scored a
meaningless touchdown and added an even more meaningless 2pt conversion to
cover the spread vs. Seattle. Everyone (including G's Ma D's)
but Kel had the Seahawks.
Each week we picked all the NFL
football games against the point
spread. A correct pick is worth 1 pt, with ties and losses worth
0. The final tallies:
1.
Ben's 116
2.
Ma Deeters 115
3.
Dutch 110
4.
Racks 109
5.
ELHS 102 (98 raw score plus +4
for week 6)

This
was Lew Popoff's (ELHS
Football Rules) first season in the Ticks and the inexperience
showed. He pretty much secured a last place finish several weeks
ago, and neglected to enter his picks in Week 6. Rookies make
rookie mistakes - I am sure Lew will perform better next season.
The
burning question: Will Kays continue his fortune in the sweet
science and join the fellers in Vegas
for The Greek's Bachelor Party (3/14-3/17...March Madness, Baby)?
