Grammy Show Review 2004

GRAMMY AWARDS CONCLUDE WITH NO EXPOSED BOOBS

SALINE, MICHIGAN  FEBRUARY 8, 2004

A few quick takes on the Grammy awards on CBS:

- Prince and Beyonce' opened with the Broadway version of Purple Rain.

- I got sick of Outkast's song, "Hey Ya" after the third time I heard it.  Now the chorus of Hey Ya is played on the radio and TV to the point where it's driving me nuts.  Their video is a rip-off of Nirvana's In Bloom video.  Andre 3000's two-word "Thank You" acceptance speech was classic.

- I'm not sure who those cats The White Stripes are, but they sounded pretty damn good.  Jess told me that "the kids are down The White Stripes."

- Breast boy, Justin Timberlake, did a poor rendition of a humble guy in his acceptance speech, but it was the only thing he could do.

- Joan Rivers needs to call it a career.

- Jess can't understand the fuss over the Black Eyed Peas.  Where's the Love? "Where's the Good Song?", she says.

- I think Luther Vandross is a great singer & I'm not sure about Warren Zevon, but I'm sick of giving people "sympathy" Grammys for their music. Especially "major" Grammys.  Just because someone had a terrible stroke (former) and/or died (latter), that doesn't justify giving them a Grammy.  Even if Zevon collaborated with Bruce.  But you knew it was going to happen.
