Losing His Howard Stern

Shock Jock ban makes Greek a Grump

SALINE, MICHIGAN  FEBRUARY 27, 2004

Clear Channel's ban of the Howard Stern radio show has hit home.  This week Jim 'the Greek' Mansfield [website] learned that Stern was pulled off the air on the station that Jimmy listens to when in Florida. Check out Greek's email to South Fl. radio station "Big 106":

Subject: "Thanks for Choosing For Me"

Thanks for choosing for me what I can listen to.  The Stern show has been the same for 20 years; now it's indecent?  It's been the same in South Florida for 10 years.

Of course Clear Channel owns every station in the market so there is no competition anyway.  Which is the reason I am listening to Sirius now.  Stern was one of the few reasons left to listen to radio.

Jim's missive prompted this response:  "The content of Howard Stern's program is not in compliance with Clear Channel's content standards.  Until the program provider makes those adjustments, we will be unable to air the Howard Stern Show."  SVP Programming Clear Channel Radio, Tom Owens.

Stern has threatened to quit the radio business all together which has no doubt left talentless Howard Stern cohorts Bababooey (photo above), Fred, Stuttering John and the rest quaking in their boots.  Especially considering all of the success that former writer and ex-Spartan Jackie Martling has had since he quit the show a few years ago.  Maybe they can start a Car Wash or something.
