Moen Customer Service
Gets it Done
Problems with your Moen faucet? Give them a call
SALINE, MICHIGAN MARCH 12,
2004
For anyone needing plumbing
tips, I subscribe to the "Brute Force" method of plumbing.
Common plumbing tools for me include hammers, boards, and any
other tool that I can use to whack on pipes and fixtures.
On a serious note, kudos to Moen customer support
(1-800-BUY-MOEN).

Two things of note:
1) The wait time when I called
was 2 hours but they had a feature where I could enter my
phone number and they called me back when my turn was up.
Outstanding.
2) The guy on the phone was
friendly, knowledgeable, and spoke crisp, clean English.

FYI: If your Moen faucet is
leaking, you probably have a problem with the water cartridge
inside the faucet. You'll need to buy a new one and of
course remove the old one. To remove the old one, you
can pop in the plastic tool that comes with your new cartridge
and turn the old cartridge with some pliers. You have to
break the rubber stopper inside the old cartridge (it takes a
little bit of force) before it will come out.
After you pull the old (now
busted) cartridge out, make sure there aren't any pieces of
rubber chilling inside the faucet. You might want to
carefully turn your water back on to make sure everything
is out of there. Moen recommends that you clean the
inside of the brass out with vinegar and a toothbrush.
Then pop the new cartridge in, re-assemble the sink and you
should be in good shape.
In sum, I've had a lot of
success with Moen faucets and sink sets, and the customer
service only adds to the overall quality of Moen's product.
