The Aficionados LLP complete first Decade

10 Years, 5 men, several missions

SALINE, MICHIGAN  MARCH 3, 2005

It started with some idle chatter at the now defunct Nick & Harry's Log Cabin just outside Howell, Michigan.  That sparked a mountain of stock market muscle for the Aficionados investment club, which this week completes its first decade!

The club has never really strayed from its original plan: modest monthly contributions toward a common goal: build up a nice nest egg and have a good time in the process.

The amount of the monthly payment has creeped up gradually to keep up with inflation, but other than that, the club has changed very little.  The original five members: Frank, Rick, Ks, Ron and Greg are still in tact, and then some.

Mixed into the first ten years have been a few golf and fishing junkets, wrapped around the occasional annual meeting.  Trips have included jaunts up to Dog Lake in Canada, Onekama, MI, and Rainy Lake in northern MN.

So what's in store for the Aficionados for the next decade?  We'll see.  Perhaps we'll write our memoirs or pull together a book on investing like the overrated Beardstown Ladies.

So how much are the Aficionados worth after 10 years?  Don't worry about it.  Recall that the Aficionados are a private club, and such details are better left to the imagination.
