Special: Beebe Open 2005
Team comes through again at Beebe Open
HASLETT, MICHIGAN JUNE 26, 2005
As the sun pummeled the 160+ contestants in the 2005
Beebe Open, the team from Okemos never wavered. The only
refuge from the brutal heat was shade from the trees lining the
course and the memories of the
2003 3rd Place finish.
The squad once again stringed together dazzling drives, crisp
approaches and perfect putts to total a slick 58, good for fifth
overall.
While the victory was not complete, as a team total
55 won the Open, the team did manage to eek out a one-stroke win
over archrivals Team Kleimola. The two teams battled all day,
the high point being a pair of eagles on the second hole we played.
The eagles resulted in a contagious case of the "eagle giggles" by
all eight players.
After wiping down the sweat, tossing down some John
Daly's and steaks, the team had enough energy to throw down at the
Mayfair. The respect earned in 2003 has been retained: Beebe
Bronze was no
fluke; this team is
and will be a force in this event for years to come. Some
