Dexter-Ann Arbor Run
2006
ANN ARBOR MICHIGAN, JUNE 8, 2006
A
wet, cool morning was the setting for a grueling 6.2 miles over the
badlands of north Ann Arbor. Wobbling down the shores of the
Huron River, I broke the tape at
the Dexter-Ann Arbor run in just over 50 minutes. Ron took
down the daunting 5K in slightly under the much discussed, rarely
conquered 26 minute barrier to finish arm & arm with the local
running elite. I'm pictured left making a promise to myself to
never do this again, as the sounds of Metallica live at Woodstock
was blasted into my brain. (FYI - I didn't need the jacket,
and almost just permanently ditched it several times).
Update August 2006. After a summer of running and a little
research, I've looked back at my 2006 Dexter Ann Arbor Run and found
many issues which I've summarized in the diagram below. Making
these improvements aren't going to turn my 50 minute time into a 45,
but I may be able to shave a few minutes off next time. Check
it out:
