Dexter-Ann Arbor Run 2006

ANN ARBOR MICHIGAN, JUNE 8, 2006

A wet, cool morning was the setting for a grueling 6.2 miles over the badlands of north Ann Arbor.  Wobbling down the shores of the Huron River, I broke the tape at the Dexter-Ann Arbor run in just over 50 minutes.  Ron took down the daunting 5K in slightly under the much discussed, rarely conquered 26 minute barrier to finish arm & arm with the local running elite.  I'm pictured left making a promise to myself to never do this again, as the sounds of Metallica live at Woodstock was blasted into my brain.  (FYI - I didn't need the jacket, and almost just permanently ditched it several times).

 

Update August 2006.  After a summer of running and a little research, I've looked back at my 2006 Dexter Ann Arbor Run and found many issues which I've summarized in the diagram below.  Making these improvements aren't going to turn my 50 minute time into a 45, but I may be able to shave a few minutes off next time.  Check it out:
